The “LaFiori” collection was founded in 2019 by the actress Miriam Fiordeponti and the architect Claudius Pratsch. It is dedicated, amongst other things, to the artistic work of Arturo Ciacelli, born in Arnara on 28 May 1883 and died in Venice on 6 July 1966. From 1910–1911, he cultivated personal contacts in Paris with the avant-garde artistic circle of Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Léger, Braque, Apollinaire, Arp and Chagall.

He moved to Stockholm with his first wife, the artist Elsa Ström, where he was able to devote himself entirely to his artistic work, undisturbed by the two world wars. In 1915, he founded the ‘Nya Konstgalleriet’ (New Art Gallery) and exhibited international and Nordic avant-garde art until 1921, whilst also publishing an edition of the magazine ‘Ny Konst’ (New Art). He demonstrated his commitment to Futurism – not without controversy – by courageously signing his translation of the “Technical Manifesto of Futurist Painting” (Umberto Boccioni, Carlo D. Carrà, Luigi Russolo, Giacomo Balla, Gino Severini) in 1913. Between 1923 and 1930, he ran the legendary artists’ club “Grotta Azzura” in Stockholm.

After the Second World War and the death of his first wife, he moved to Vienna in 1952, where he had taught at the Italian Cultural Institute since 1937 and married the composer Eva-Maria von Bach. Ciacelli died in 1966 during the Venice Art Biennale.

The original works in the collection will in future be made permanently accessible to the public at the Granaio dell’Arte Arnara and are expected to contribute to the positive cultural and social development of the village and the region.
